Community Projects: PERICLES sheer curation tools

25th Jan 2016 : 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM

PERICLES sheer curation tools: extraction and encapsulation of significant information from the use environment

Overview

This webinar will introduce and demonstrate the use of the new PERICLES tools for the extraction and embedding of information.

The PET tool is a framework to extract useful information from the environment where digital objects are created and modified. This information supports object use and reuse, for a better long-term preservation of data.

The PeriCAT Tool is a framework of Information Encapsulation techniques, which can be used to aggregate information, such as the one extracted by PET, within or along digital objects. It supports the user in the selection of the best encapsulation approach based on its scenario.

By the end of the session, participants will have:

  • a basic understanding of the use of the tools and their use cases
  • knowledge about the relevant documentation
  • the opportunity to ask further information to the developers of the tools

Session lead: Christine Sauter (PERICLES Project Manager)

Available for Q&A: software developers Anna Grit Eggers (University of Göttingen) and Fabio Corubolo (University of Liverpool)
