Barbara Sierman has been appointed as the new Chair of the Open Preservation Foundation.

The Foundation’s Board of Directors voted to elect Barbara as Chair following her nomination at their February Board meeting. Barbara, Digital Preservation Manager at the Koninklijke Bibliotheek, succeeds Dr. Ross King, Austrian Institute of Technology, who has held the role for three years.

The Board have also established a new role of Deputy Chair and elected Dr. Peter May, British Library, to this position.

Barbara said:

I am very pleased to be chosen for this role. I would like to thank Ross for his valuable work as chair. I look forward to working with the Board and members to help the Foundation in its mission to sustain technology and knowledge for the long-term management of digital cultural heritage.”

Ross said:

I am confident that Barbara and Peter have both the experience and initiative to guide the Open Preservation Foundation. I will continue to support them as a member of the Board, and know that the staff and the membership will do so as well.”
