JHOVE Online Hack Day Spring 2017
27th Apr 2017 : 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Join us to help improve JHOVE, an open source, identification, characterisation, and validation tool widely-used by the digital preservation community.
Building on the fantastic community collaboration from our first online JHOVE Hack Day, we are happy to announce that registration is open for our second JHOVE Hack Day at: https://jhoveonlinehackday-spring2017.eventbrite.co.uk.
During our second online hack day we’d like to improve JHOVE by:
- creating or extending descriptions of JHOVE validation errors;
- reviewing and where possible, improving the existing documentation;
- gathering example files that demonstrate particular validation issues for testing; and,
- documenting the preservation impact of different JHOVE validation issues and what might be done to mitigate any risks.
How it works
We have set up a suggested list of tasks as a rolling milestone on GitHub: https://github.com/
There’s no obligation to dedicate a whole day of your time, whatever time and energy you have on the day will be gratefully accepted. We’ve tried to organise it to make it as easy as possible for people to drop in and out as it suits you. Take a look at our google doc to learn more about our aims for the day, our check-in calls, and how we will track the day’s activities.
To help us plan for the day, please register to tell us which tasks you are interested in working on, and when you are available: https://
The JHOVE Hack Day is open to everyone – please help spread the word!
