JHOVE Online Hack Day

11th Oct 2016

JHOVE is a great tool for validating content, such as PDFs, however much of the validation output given is difficult to understand. The aim of this online hack day is to enhance our knowledge about JHOVE errors – to create descriptions of errors and to identify example files, as well as to start to understand their preservation impact and what can possibly be done about them.

How it Works

We’ve tried to organise the day to make it as easy as possible for people to drop in and out as it suits them. There’s no obligation to dedicate a whole day of your time, whatever time and energy you have on the day will be gratefully accepted. There’s also a variety of tasks, big and small, technical and non-technical, so that everyone should be able to find something they can work on given the time, knowledge and skills available to them.

We have created a collaborative document to organise the tasks, contributed from our Document Interest Group and JHOVE Product Board. We welcome additional suggestions from the community. Find out more and sign up here.
