The Swedish National Archives (SNA) have become the latest organisation to join the Open Preservation Foundation.
As the official archive of the Swedish government, SNA has received and preserved digital records in Sweden since the beginning of the 1970s and has continuously developed its digital preservation methods since this time. As active members of the digital preservation community, SNA collaborate on preservation initiatives with national archives across Europe and in the Nordic countries especially. They have also been involved in the E-ARK consortium and the DILCIS board, as well as other European projects including Protage and PREFORMA.
Magnus Geber, Analyst and Developer of Digital preservation at SNA, said:
“SNA consider the aim of OPF as being of great importance. We acknowledge the need for international cooperation in the field of digital preservation. As a former partner in the PREFORMA project we recognise the benefits of a body which can foster the results from ended projects in the form of software and tools. We look forward to taking part in the future development of common tools in this field.”

The SNA joins organisations in 18 countries that make up our vibrant community of members. Now in our tenth year, the OPF welcomes any organisation that shares our vision of open sustainable digital preservation to join us.
