The National Archives of Estonia joins the Open Planets Foundation

We are pleased to welcome the National Archives of Estonia as our newest member.

Lauri Leht, Director of Digital Archives, explained:

“The National Archives of Estonia has joined Open Planets to collaborate in the field of digital preservation with other innovative members of the archiving community. Our digital preservation specialists are looking forward to contributing to the community, sharing experiences, testing tools and providing feedback on new applications and ideas”.

Ed Fay, Executive Director of the Open Planets Foundation, commented:

"The National Archives of Estonia has an established digital archives programme providing centralised services to a country which is recognised across Europe for the development of its digital infrastructure. Membership of Open Planets will enable their staff to share best practices with other organisations across Europe and to participate in collaborative working to further develop institutional solutions.

I am particularly pleased to welcome another national archive to the membership which will further strengthen the sector knowledge and expertise available through our events programme and curation of practical digital preservation tools and solutions."

The National Archives of Estonia become the 18th member of Open Planets joining libraries, archives, research institutions, universities, and service providers collaborating on shared approaches to digital preservation.
