The Open Preservation Foundation is pleased to announce that veraPDF version 1.26 is out now! veraPDF is an open-source, industry-supported PDF/A and PDF/UA validator and part of the OPF reference toolset.
This release is made up of several PDF/UA improvements on top of veraPDF 1.26-RC2:
- (PDF/UA-2) supported named structured destinations in goto actions
- (PDF/UA-1) fixed rules about annotations

Version 1.26 can be downloaded here: veraPDF 1.26. There are other release builds which can be found in the release folder. Developers can use the veraPDF software libraries in their Java projects via Maven Central, an established distribution platform for Java software.
We invite the community to download and test the release. Please report bugs on the veraPDF issue tracker on GitHub or contact us with any feedback or questions.
Discontinued support for PDFBox version
Version 1.26 and the subsequent 1.28 release will be the last to support the PDFBox-based PDF parser implementation. As of version 1.30 this support will be discontinued. The user will still be able to use the veraPDF version based on the greenfield PDF parser.
In addition veraPDF team ensures the support for all Java LTS versions, which are Java 8, 11, 17 and 21 at the time of this release.
