The Open Preservation Foundation (OPF) is pleased to welcome the National Archives of Ireland as a new member . 

The National Archives of Ireland (NAI) is the official repository for records of the Irish State. Their remit includes the preservation and provision of access to records from Departments of State, government agencies and private collections. Their work in digital preservation is in the early stages. As part of a wider transformation process, the NAI are developing their  capacity and digital infrastructure to accommodate their collection of over 50 million records. 

The Keeper for Digital Management at the NAI, Niamh McDonnell has said that participation in networks such as the OPF is a key part of their upskilling programme.

“The National Archives of Ireland is at the start of a digital transformation process. It is essential that we learn from colleagues across the sector in order to overcome many of the difficult challenges we face. Membership of the OPF will help us navigate current and future challenges and will form a key component of our upskilling programme.”
