Job description

The British Library are recruiting for a Web Archive Technical Lead to join the UK Web Archive team at the British Library.

We are the national library of the UK. As well as having a significant print collection including more than 170 million items – from Magna Carta, to handwritten Beatles’ lyrics, to manuscripts by the Brontës, the Library since 2013 has been conducting major web archiving activities. These activities include each year performing a UK domain crawl resulting in over a petabyte of content and frequent crawls from daily to monthly of targeted websites.

 

About the role

In your role as the Web Archive Technical lead, you will lead:

  • The development and improvement of the Library’s web archiving technical capability, in response to evolving web technologies.
  • All aspects of the technical operations including the annual harvests of the whole UK web domain.
  • Ensuring the required technical infrastructure (hardware, software and network) is in place to meet the evolving business requirements.
